Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott denies he was ‘detained’ by police

Ezekiel Elliott remains under investigation by the NFL for domestic violence allegations, but made it clear he isn’t in any other trouble.

The Cowboys running back on Sunday denied a report from TMZ that claimed he had been held by police at a nightclub Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.

“But all my boys, stand up. We strong, right? We strong! We strong, right? All my boys, tell me one time: I can do anything I put my mind to. Now a lot of boys aren’t supposed to be soft-spoken. You know what I’m saying? One day y’all are going to have a very deep voice like this (in deep voice). One day, you’ll have a very, very deep voice.

“But the ladies, they’re supposed to be silent, polite, gentle. My men, my men (are) supposed to be strong. I want y’all to tell me what the third rule of life is: I can do anything I put my mind to. Scream it!”

Winston tried to explain himself after receiving criticism for his words, but he didn’t exactly apologize.

From the Tampa Bay Times:

“I was making an effort to interact with a young male in the audience Cheap Green Bay Packers Jerseys who didn’t seem to be paying attention, and I didn’t want to single him out so I asked all the boys to stand up,” Winston said. “During my talk, I used a poor word choice that may have overshadowed that positive message for some.”

Atlanta zoo names hissing cockroach after Tom Brady

Atlanta fans are still bitter about their devastating Super Bowl loss.

“The Raiders have torn up Jack Del Rio’s original contract and rewarded him with a new four-year deal,” owner Mark Davis said in a statement. “We are excited to continue building on the strong foundation that has been established and this is a significant step in achieving that goal.”

Del Rio went 7-9 in his first season in Oakland but enjoyed success with the emergence of third-year players, quarterback Derek Carr and pass rusher Khalil Mack, who was named the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year.

Before Oakland, Del Rio spent nine seasons with the Jaguars, going 12-4 in 2005. The Jags went 8-8 the next season, followed by an 11-5 campaign.

Del Rio will have a new offensive coordinator in Todd Downing, replacing Bill Musgrave, but will retain defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr.

To me, he’s a less polished version of Matthew Stafford coming out of Georgia. I’d love to see him replace Jay Cutler in Chicago, but his most likely first-round spot for now is Arizona, with a host of teams interested if he falls to the second round.

North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky could go first overall, but at this point, I highly doubt he’ll be a Cleveland Brown. The Bears may be a fit, especially considering Trubisky’s experience in Cheap Ireland Jerseys cold weather in high school. But the team to watch out for is the Buffalo Bills. If I had to predict one team to make a Goff/Wentz trade-up, it’d be the Bills this year. Cleveland will be all ears when it comes to trading down from No. 1 overall.

Garrett Sickels will use NFL Draft Combine as charity fundraiser

Garrett Sickels will showcase something besides his 40-yard dash time and vertical leap at the NFL Draft Combine.

The former Penn State defensive end is leading a pledge drive tied to the number of bench press reps he turns in at next month’s combine, with proceeds set to fund research into rare diseases.

Sickels hopes to donate $250 per 225-pound rep at the combine if he reaches his goal. As of Wednesday morning, donors at www.pledgeit.org had him at $174.65 per rep.

The record for most bench press reps at the combine is 51, set by Justin Ernest of Eastern Kentucky in 1999.

This Patriots team started out 2-2, including a 31-0 loss at Buffalo in Week 1. They didn’t lose again after that. Tom Brady made pieces such as Antowain Smith, Kevin Faulk and Deion Branch fit on offense, and defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel molded a unit that allowed a league-low 14.9 points per game. That defense tormented Peyton Manning in a 24-14 win against Indianapolis in the AFC championship, and New England held off upstart Carolina in the Super Bowl thanks to another game-winning field goal by Adam Vinatieri.

He’d been the No. 1 pick in the draft after winning the Heisman Trophy at Stanford but was written off as a failure after throwing 33 more interceptions than touchdowns through seven mostly losing seasons in New England and San Francisco. Oakland signed him as a backup, but when Dan Pastorini broke his leg early in the 1980 season Plunkett was back into the starting lineup. He lost his first time out, then went 13-2 the rest of the way. The Raiders became the first team to win the Super Bowl as a wild US Cheap Jerseys card entry into the playoffs.

Packers LB Clay Matthews won’t need shoulder surgery

Packers coach Mike McCarthy revealed some good news this week: Pro Bowl linebacker Clay Matthews will not require surgery on his injured left shoulder.

“I think he’s out of the woods,” McCarthy said at the NFL Combine, via Cheap Queensland Reds Jerseys ESPN. “I know there was a period of time where they were [considering surgery]. Last time we talked, [team physician Dr.] Pat McKenzie thought he was out of the woods and wasn’t going to need surgery.”

Foreman will go through all of the workouts at Texas’ pro day March 28. The Texas City native, who won the 2016 Doak Walker Award, did participate in the bench press at the Combine, doing 18 reps of 225 pounds.

Foreman ran for 2,028 yards last season and led FBS with 184.4 rushing yards per game. When he was weighed at the Combine, he measured at 6-1, 233 pounds, 16 pounds lighter than his listed weight. Teams hope fewer pounds will mean Foreman can run with more explosion and burst, but they’ll have to Cheap Professional Sports Jerseys wait until later this month to find out.

While LSU’s Leonard Fournette, Florida State’s Dalvin Cook and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey are considered the consensus top three running backs, Foreman could be the Cheap Queensland Jerseys next one off the board in April’s NFL Draft.

“Once the Jets say, ‘We don’t need you anymore,’ I’m going to venture off into that world,” Marshall told the Daily News. “I’m not playing for another team. Four (Broncos, Dolphins, Bears, Jets) is all I need. It’s too hard to make new friends and relationships and deal with different egos. I don’t like the business already. So I’m not trying to deal with that.”

So what’s next for Marshall?

NFL moves Super Bowl 55 to Tampa after Los Angeles stadium delays

Miami and New Orleans are the only markets to have hosted more Super Bowls than Los Angeles, but L.A. will have to wait an extra year before the big game returns.

NFL owners voted unanimously Tuesday to move Super Bowl 55, which had been scheduled for the new Rams and Chargers stadium, to Tampa. The new Los Angeles-area stadium will get its chance the following year with Super Bowl 56. So if you’re making travel plans, Raymond James Stadium is the place to be on Feb. 7, 2021 and the new stadium in Inglewood will play host to America’s biggest sporting event on Feb. 6, 2022.

The shift comes as a result of weather-related construction delays at the L.A. stadium site, which last week prompted the Rams and Chargers to announce they won’t move into their new home until the 2020 season. NFL rules require a stadium to have been open two full seasons before it can host a Super Cheap Jerseys Supply Bowl, so a change needed to be made.

Week 3 with this rule is now destined to look like every other week.

Which means no week is worth the risk to the players, no matter how far down the Cheap Jerseys Sunglasses priority list they are. The Cart has always been the real MVP of the NFL preseason. It rolls out constantly in stadiums all over the nation starting Hall of Fame weekend (which, regrettably, will resume being played this year) and never slows. Every time it does, the thought leaps to mind that these games serve no purpose that can’t be served some other way.

That atmosphere will be supercharged in the last two preseason games, most of all in the final one. It won’t be for the better, though — not for the fans being charged for it, and not for the players being endangered by it.

But taking something that should be dumped completely, and only making it worse, is what the NFL does best.

Four Cubs in Top 5 of MLB jersey sales

That starter, right-hander Zack Wheeler, showed potential in ’14, his first full big league season. He was inconsistent, but he also averaged a strikeout per inning (187 in 185 1/3 innings) before his UCL unraveled. Now that he’s close to returning to a big league mound, he wants to immediately return to his previous role, too: pitching every fifth day.

No bullpen work for him, he says. That’s just not his deal.

“I feel that guys that go to the bullpen get stuck in the bullpen, and I don’t want to do that,” Wheeler, 26, told the New York Post after a pre-spring training workout in Port St. Lucie, Fla. “Because either you are doing bad and you stay in the bullpen because you can’t be a starter or you are doing really good, and they can’t afford to move you out of the bullpen. So you are going to get stuck there, and that’s why I’m trying to let everybody know that I’m not a bullpen guy, I’m a starter.”

Kris Bryant is everything a team could want in a franchise player. He’s big, he’s tall, he’s athletic and he’s not so tough on the eyes either.

And apparently people really like to see his name on the back of their jerseys.

The reigning National League MVP topped the list of MLB jersey sales since the end of the 2016 World Series based on numbers from MLBShop.com released Friday.

Bryant is one of four Cubs in the Top 5 in jersey sales Cheap Jerseys World this season (Anthony Rizzo No.2, Javier Baez No.4, Kyle Schwarber No.5) and one of eight National League players in the Top 10 of the list.

In fact, the first eight players on the list are NL players.

Raiders’ Bruce Irvin: NFL should worry about more than ‘a dude celebrating’

Troy Vincent, the executive vice president of NFL football operations tweeted Tuesday that the league is going to make it clear what celebrations are appropriate for players moving forward.

Player celebrations became a topic of discussion last season after several players were penalized and fined for their actions after scoring touchdowns or making big plays. Many players complained that they weren’t warned ahead of time of what’s right and wrong.

“It could really happen,” a source told ESPN.

The Seahawks still have rights to Lynch — he’s on their reserve/retired list — so his availability would come via trade or release.

Lynch, who turns 31 in April, has “thought about playing” and is “in shape,” according to NFL.com. Lynch grew up in Oakland, so the Raiders can present themselves as a tempting, convenient team on which Beast Mode can end his career.

Lynch would make sense for the Raiders in the same way free-agent Adrian Peterson would.

Wrote SN’s Vinnie Iyer about the possibility of Peterson in Oakland: “Not only would Peterson fit what the Raiders want to do on offense behind a powerful Cheap Jerseys Epl run-blocking line, but their depth at running back — DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard — means Peterson would not be needed as a contributor in the passing game, just as a power runner.”

Lynch, who is 13 months younger than Peterson, is a five-time Pro Bowler and a 2012 All-Pro selection. He rushed for 2,144 yards and 74 touchdowns in nine seasons with the Bills and Seahawks.

NFL free agency: Seahawks to host Adrian Peterson, reports say

Adrian Peterson to Seattle?

Not quite, but the Seahawks are hosting the running back on Sunday as free agency season continues, ESPN reported, citing sources.

The Seahawks are clearly looking for a veteran tailback — they recently hosted former Packer Eddie Lacy, and are scheduled to meet with Latavius Murray on Tuesday and are reportedly looking into Jamaal Charles.

Peterson, who turns 32 on March 21, only played in three games last season before tearing his meniscus. If he were to join the Seahawks, his role would likely be more diminished than it was with the Vikings. Only four players over 32 have rushed for 1,000-plus yards and more than 4.0 yards per carry in a season since the NFL merger in 1970.

Andre Ellington rejoined the Cardinals this week, and he’ll apparently have a new role in the offense in 2017 as he pulls a reverse Ty Montgomery.

as of now, #azcardinals plan is to use Andre Ellington more at WR than Cheap Jerseys AUStralia RB. He’ll do both but Cardinals like him at WR.

Ellington was a running back in his first four years with Arizona, and showed promise in his first two seasons. But the emergence of David Johnson (along with the signing of Chris Johnson) led to a smaller role for Ellington, who has had limited touches in the last two years.

Moving him to receiver will be an interesting project for coach Bruce Arians and his staff. Ellington has nice skills but hasn’t been able to carve out a role for himself in the last two years despite remaining mostly healthy.

Former ace Josh Johnson ends injury-plagued career

Josh Johnson at one time was one of the most talented pitchers in all of baseball, unfortunately injuries cut his career short. On Thursday he called it quits.

According to ESPN, the two-time All-Star retired after several comeback attempts. He finished his career with a 58-45 record, 915 strikeouts and a 3.40 ERA.

Johnson, who played for the Marlins and Blue Jays, enjoyed his best season Cheap Essendon Jerseys in 2010 when he went 11-6 with 186 strikeouts and an NL best 2.30 ERA.

On November 19, 2012, Johnson was part of a massive trade that sent himself, Mark Buehrle, José Reyes, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio to the Blue Jays in exchange for Jeff Mathis, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson álvarez, Yunel Escobar, Jake Marisnick, Anthony DeSclafani, and Justin Nicolino.

Johnson, 32, has not pitched in MLB since 2013. He signed a pair of one-year deals with the Padres for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, but arm troubles kept him from ever making a start.

Before finally retiring, Johnson underwent three separate Tommy John surgeries in his attempt to get back on the mound.

This could be the year this country begins to pay closer attention. The Americans’ roster is as stacked as it has ever been. Giancarlo Stanton, Buster Posey, Nolan Arenado, Andrew McCutchen and Andrew Miller are just some of the players who will wear the U.S. cap this year.

And yet, as those players carry the Stars and Stripes onto the field, maybe it would be fair to remember that this tournament isn’t simply for glory, or for Americans.

It’s for the world. As fans, we should want to share in that.

2017 BIG3 mock draft: Yep, this is happening

BIG3 is a new professional 3-on-3 basketball league founded by Ice Cube and Hollywood producer Jeff Kwatinetz. Cube and the team convinced a few dozen retired and fringe NBA players to sign on for a summer of delight. They hired Roger Mason of HOW U fame to come aboard as commissioner. Amy Trask, a former Oakland Raiders chief executive, signed on as the league’s CEO.

Then there are the players. Some of these guys are legends, like Allen Iverson and Chauncey Billups. Some of these guys were NBA role players at best. Some are a bit grayer, like Charles Oakley. Some, like Xavier Silas and Donte Greene, haven’t even hit age 30 yet.

Wentz regressed to the mean after such a hot start as a rookie — he didn’t throw a pick until Week 4 — but the Eagles can feel confident they found their next franchise passer.

Lynch started just two games for the Broncos in 2016 in place of injured starter Trevor Siemian. Entering his second year, Lynch figures to get a better chance to start over Philadelphia Eagles Cheap Jerseys Siemian and earn his label as a success or failure as a potential franchise quarterback.

The Bills never gave him a good chance to succeed with the parts around him. Injuries didn’t help, either. There was some promise in 2006, but it was followed by significant regression and little playing time afterward.

The 49ers weren’t sure if they wanted to let Smith be groomed or needed him to play right away. He started nine games as a rookie, but more because the alternatives (Tim Rattay, Ken Dorsey and Cody Pickett) weren’t great. Philosophy-wise, they leaned a little against throwing him into the fire.
